Gaming laptops are a new niche for the brand, which only fuels interest in the HUNTER V700. The novelty has adopted a number of features typical of traditional HONOR laptops, but it has received gaming hardware, spectacular synchronized keyboard and case lighting, and even its own logo. The review was attended by a model with Intel Core i7-10750H, but later a more affordable modification will appear on the market, featuring a processor and a video card.
Armed and ready to fight
The HONOR HUNTER V700 is a tandem of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 video card with ray tracing and the tenth — generation Intel Core i7-10750H. The processor is common: it can be found both in gaming laptops and in devices that are sharpened to work with graphics packages. The amount of RAM in the hero of the review is not a record, 16 GB, but the upgrade will double it. The power of the hardware is enough to give out decent performance in modern games and work programs. The laptop instantly turns on, quickly opens any software, allows you to set the maximum graphics settings in fresh titles — what else do you need for happiness?
The laptop screen deserves a special mention. The refresh rate of 144 Hz is not enough except for a professional esports player — the rest of the players will be satisfied.
Thanks to the high-end display, the gameplay is simplified. The more frames per second, the more comfortable it is to fight and keep track of changes on the battlefield. For most network shooters, 144 Hz is more than enough. The diagonal of the screen of the HONOR HUNTER V700 is 16.1 inches, which is slightly atypical. Support for 100% sRGB color coverage is claimed, and the matrix itself is made using IPS technology — there are wide viewing angles, and the maximum brightness of the backlight is 300 nits.
What it looks like
For the HONOR game line, a custom logo was developed — it was not only applied to the laptop cover, but also taught to shimmer in different colors. The black case looks strict, but the game accessories are given out by an unusual system with folding air intakes, an LED strip on the bottom panel and a typical keyboard with RGB illumination for such devices.
Combined with the power button, the fingerprint scanner is an excellent solution. It works quickly and accurately. Also, it is located in a good place, accidental clicks are excluded here.
The cover of the laptop can be easily opened with one hand, the case does not need to be supported at the same time. However, the material in this place is thin and marky: the lid easily bends under the pressure of a finger, and also actively collects fingerprints — you will have to keep your fingers clean and put them in the backpack more carefully. Fortunately, the keyboard block and the area around the touchpad are assembled much more firmly and get dirty much less. Thanks to the fairly thin frames on the edges of the display and the moderate thickness of the case, the dimensions of the HONOR HUNTER V700 are not far from the 15.6-inch office models.
Special attention should be paid to the Wind Valley cooling system: when you lift the laptop cover, a small space opens up in the lower part of the case, allowing you to capture more air. The laptop is also equipped with a self-cleaning system — dust particles are blown through separate channels, which simplifies the maintenance of the device in the future.
Ergonomics and peripherals
On the keyboard, they did not save money, it is full-size. There is a separate digital block, the space is large, the arrows are not different-the ergonomics are fine. In-place and multi-color lighting. The WASD key block is outlined and highlighted separately. For gaming models, this is not uncommon, but without such decorations, the keyboard would look more elegant... The button with the brand logo attracts attention: it allows you to quickly switch between the operating modes of the laptop. The touchpad is quite large, but most gamers will first connect a mouse, and a wired one, with customizable macros and an accurate sensor.
What kind of gaming laptop without a set of connectors for all occasions? The manager in the coworking will have enough of a touchpad, but the gamer will require a separate mouse, Internet over the wire and a couple of free ports "to be". In the HONOR HUNTER V700, there should be no problems with connecting peripherals: two USB 3.2, USB Type-C, USB 2.0, LAN port and HDMI 2.0, as well as a combined audio jack. However, you will not be able to recharge your laptop via Type-C. You will have to use a separate power supply. But you can connect several monitors to the laptop, if necessary.
Test results
The components of the HONOR HUNTER V700 allow you to achieve good figures in synthetic tests. So, in PCMark 10, the laptop gave out almost 6200 points, and in 3DMark Fire Strike received more than 13 thousand points — the numbers do not hint, but directly indicate a comfortable gameplay. In practice, this is confirmed by the confident 144 Hz in Battlefield 5 and Battlefront II, high graphics settings in many releases. Even capricious to the hardware, not the best optimized Horizon Zero Dawn goes on the laptop smoothly, without lags. You can also work: HONOR HUNTER V700 playfully renders FullHD and 2K videos in Adobe Premiere, and the export takes place with superimposed color correction. It is convenient not only to play, but also to work — one machine successfully copes with different tasks.
